A lay judge who both fell asleep and ate during trials at Malmö District Court loses his appointment, reports SVT News Skåne.
The same decision was made by the district court already in the autumn of 2023 after complaints about his behavior. Among other things, he was said to have eaten candy and said inappropriate things during proceedings.
However, The Social Democrats appointed him as a lay judge again. Even during the following period, the court has received complaints about the man. The fact that the inappropriate behavior was repeated is now cited as one of the reasons why he cannot remain.
The man himself claims that some of the allegations about him are lies.
