Laura Dahlmeier's body will not be recovered after the mountain climbing accident – despite everything. That message now comes from the former biathlon star's team, reports German media.

Dahlmeier died on 28 July when she was hit by a rockslide during a climb at an altitude of 5,700 meters in the Karakoram mountains in Pakistan.

Initially, it was decided that Dahlmeier's body would be left on the mountain, as it was also said to have been her will. On Monday, the German Bild reported that a recovery would still be carried out, but this is now denied by Dahlmeier's team.

In a statement to the news agency DPA, they say that a recovery team made an assessment of the situation last week, resulting in a recovery not being carried out.

Laura Dahlmeier won two Olympic Games gold medals and seven World Championship gold medals before ending her biathlon career at the age of 25. She was 31 years old.
