Laura Dahlmeier's body is to be recovered after the mountain climbing accident that cost her life this summer, writes German Bild. This despite it being reported to go against the will of the former biathlon star.

Dahlmeier was hit by a rockfall on July 28 when she was climbing at an altitude of 5,700 meters in the Karakoram mountains in Pakistan. Due to severe weather conditions, a rescue helicopter could be sent to the scene only the day after, but it returned without signs of life from the German who is believed to have died immediately.

"Her wish was that if something like this were to happen, her body should be left on the mountain", wrote Dahlmeier's team in a statement.

Laura Dahlmeier won, among other things, seven World Championship gold medals before she ended her biathlon career already at the age of 25. She was 31 years old.
