Dahlmeier's former teammate on the German biathlon national team, Maren Hammerschmidt, announced the selection in a video from the organizers on Wednesday.
“She was simply Laura - down to earth and easy to get along with. That was what defined her. When I think of Laura, I think above all of a person who was always true to herself,” says Hammerschmidt.
Dahlmeier, a seven-time world champion, died in a climbing accident in Pakistan last summer. She was hit in the head by a rock at an altitude of 5,700 metres.
The former biathlete, who also won two Olympic gold medals, was 31 years old.
