But now it is clear that he will remain with the federation - the federation's board has nominated the 49-year-old as vice chairman and a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) board.
"The fact that I have been nominated as vice chairman as well as a board member means that, even if I am elected to any of the positions, I can continue my mission in Swedish ice hockey - a mission I am still passionate about," he tells the association's website.
This spring, Secretary General Christer Plars and Strategic Sports Director Mike Helber left.
