Talks between Denmark and the US about Greenland are back on track, according to Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

"It's not like we can draw any conclusions, but I'm a little more optimistic than I was a week ago," he says.

Wednesday's meeting of officials in Washington was the first meeting of the working group that Løkke Rasmussen, US Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio agreed to form just over two weeks ago.

After that, the White House offered a different account of the group's purpose, and President Donald Trump threatened tariffs on EU countries. Denmark's foreign minister describes it as "a major detour" and an escalation:

But now we are back on track. And as I have said many times, we obviously share the US's concerns about security.
