Police were called to an address in central Karlskrona at 11:08 a.m. regarding a serious crime in progress. A woman was found with serious stab wounds and another person, a man, was found at the scene, police spokesman Christian Brattgård said.
Paramedics began life-saving efforts and the woman was taken to hospital. The man was arrested. Initially, he was suspected of attempted murder, but the hospital later announced that the woman had died.
The police do not want to go into whether the man and woman knew each other before, nor do they want to comment on the ages of the suspected perpetrator and the woman.
"We assess that it is an isolated incident and it is not connected to other conflict environments. Nor has there been any danger to anyone else," says Christian Brattgård.
