Liljefors' grandchildren are donating the works to Gustavianum. The donation means that Uppsala University now owns the largest Liljefors collection in the world.
The works are mainly oil paintings, but the collection also includes drawings and sculptures.
"It is of course extremely gratifying that Uppsala University has received this fantastic gift from Catarina Lundegårdh (Liljefors' granddaughter, editor's note). Through her donation, the university's already rich art collection has received a fantastic addition," says Mikael Ahlund, museum director at Gustavianum, in a press release.
Bruno Liljefors (1860-1939) was one of Sweden's most famous artists, famous for his nature and animal motifs.
A rich selection from the donation will be displayed in Gustavianum's summer exhibition in 2026.
