The number of civilian deaths in the world's armed conflicts increased by 72 per cent in 2023, according to a compilation from the UN agency OHCHR.
Under 2023, data collected by my office shows that the number of civilian deaths in armed conflicts has skyrocketed by 72 per cent, says the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk on Tuesday.
He adds that the figures suggest that the proportion of women killed during the year doubled and the proportion of children tripled.
