The alarm came at 20:00 on Thursday. According to the rescue service, the fire was burning on three floors.

The fire was fully developed when we arrived, says Christian Lind, officer on duty at the rescue service.

The police are also on site, conducting interviews and documentation. The police have filed a report on a workplace accident with the classification of bodily harm.

This is being done to investigate why the fire started, since there are injured people. It is also being done to check that safety regulations have been followed, says the police's press spokesperson Mats Pettersson.

The fire is believed to have started in a boiler room.

Christian Lind says that ten to fifteen people who work at the paper mill have inhaled smoke and are being examined by ambulance personnel.

I know that four of them have been taken to the hospital by ambulance. It is unclear if more need to do so, he says.

At 21:40, the rescue service announced that the fire in the building had been extinguished. Afterwards, work continued to inspect the roof structure and search for smoldering fires.
