The identity of the person has not been determined, but the next of kin of the missing homeowner have been notified of the find.
A preliminary investigation into aggravated arson and aggravated manslaughter has been initiated. No one is suspected of a crime.
The fire alarm was called in at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The fire started in a garage and then spread to a nearby house.
"The house could not be saved, it was a very strong fire. It has more or less burned down. We are left with several units and it will be cordoned off for a while longer," police spokesman Olle Älveroth told TT earlier on Wednesday evening.
Nearby buildings were evacuated for residents, who were later able to return.
