Large differences in electricity charges for meter readings prompt Energy Market Inspectorate review

By law, electricity grid companies must provide their customers with information about meter readings that show consumption during different hours of the day.

Customers can then share this data with service companies that, via apps, can help manage their consumption so it occurs when electricity is cheapest.

Electricity grid companies are allowed to charge for this, but only for their actual costs.

A review conducted by the Energy Market Inspectorate (Ei) shows that there are significant differences in how electricity network companies charge for these meter readings.

For this reason, Ei will conduct an in-depth review of the fees.
