Gabriel Landeskog has been injured - with just weeks left until the Olympic hockey games in Milan and Cortina. He will be out for a while, coach Jared Bednar says.

It was when Landeskog's Colorado faced Florida in the NHL on Monday night, local time in Sweden, that the 33-year-old went straight into the goal cage at high speed and was unable to get up. The team doctor went out on the ice and treated Landeskog before the player was helped off the ice.

"He's going to be out for a while. He's being examined, but it didn't look good. I hate to see players, especially our captain, go down like that," said Jared Bednar.

The coach and teammates were able to rule out a new knee injury. This spring, the star forward made a comeback after nearly three years battling a knee injury. If he can participate in the Olympics, it would be the first time he has played in a national team jersey since the 2019 World Cup.

"We will do everything we can to ensure that Gabriel has a good, probably final Olympics," national team captain Sam Hallam told TT last week.

Florida won the game 2–1, breaking Colorado's ten-game winning streak.
