Colorado dominated the game from the start, opening the scoring in the eighth minute, and shortly thereafter, Gabriel Landeskog secured a 2–0 lead.
At the end of the second period, the 33-year-old was back on the field and played teammate Nathan MacKinnon forward, who scored the team's fifth goal with a wrist shot.
In the end, it was also Landeskog who scored the last goal of the match in the seventh minute of the final period.
"The players are fighting hard and playing well. We've been competitive and committed pretty much every time the puck is released. I would say we've done a good job here. Hopefully it can continue that way, but it's not easy to win in this tournament," Colorado coach Jared Bednar said after the game, according to nhl.com .
