The lack of snow will have consequences for the biathlon premiere this weekend. The short distance will be cancelled and there will be two sprint races in Idre instead.

It is still above zero in northwestern Dalarna, so it has not been possible to make any more snow at Idre Fjäll. Therefore, the short-distance races (15 km for men and 12.5 km for women) are cancelled and there will be sprint races (10 km for men and 7.5 km for women) on both Saturday and Sunday.

"They currently have a two-kilometer loop and that's what we have to base ourselves on. We have made the assessment that with a competition with a lot of laps, there will be far too many skiers on the track at the same time," says Ulrika Öberg, national director at the Swedish Biathlon Association and technical controller for the premiere, to Expressen .

Due to the lack of snow, there will be no penalty round, but instead extra time for each missed shot (22 seconds for men and 25 for women).

The Swedish national team skaters will face competition from both Italy and Germany in the national premiere.

The World Cup starts in Östersund on November 29th.
