The police officer was acquitted in the district court, but was convicted in the Court of Appeal in 2023 for illegally attacking the Police Authority's IT system. The background was that his child had been the victim of a robbery. In October 2024, he was fired.

However, the Labor Court has declared the dismissal invalid, saying there were neither sufficient nor objective reasons for it. He will receive damages of 50,000 kronor.

"I am very happy for our member, and the verdict is also important for the entire police force. It establishes that the employer made a mistake by turning a blind eye to the number of beatings and not taking into account the very vulnerable situation of the police," says Katharina von Sydow, chairwoman of the Swedish Police Association, in a press release.
