Tennis profile Nick Kyrgios had not played a professional tournament match since June 2023 due to injury problems. But now he's back. And it wasn't just any comeback.
The Australian, one of the sport's most colorful personalities, got to make his long-awaited comeback at home in Brisbane. Alongside Serbian star Novak Djokovic.
The duo paraded up for the season's opening ATP tournament, and won their first match against Austrian Alexander Erler and German Andreas Mies. The scores read 6–4, 6–7, 10–8.
After Djokovic and Kyrgios had a rocky relationship off the court, the tone has changed in recent years. Now they are instead good friends.
"I'm really happy to share the court with him during his comeback," says Djokovic according to BBC.
In 2022, they met in a Wimbledon final, and Djokovic emerged victorious from the battle.
