Kyiv tightens security as Russian attacks on infrastructure rise

Ukraine's schoolchildren return for the fall semester on Tuesday, but due to escalated and more frequent Russian drone attacks, rules regarding large gatherings are being tightened and distance learning is being expanded.

Metro traffic across the Dnieper River is being stopped for safety reasons, causing chaos in car traffic. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko is considering partial air raid warnings and allowing one metro line to operate even during an alert, as the constant warnings paralyse the entire city.

Parliament has completed an underground plenary hall where members can take shelter within ten minutes.
