More than 360 Kurdish fighters and 69 wounded have been evacuated from Aleppo, an interior ministry source said. AFP was told that 300 Kurds, including members of the security forces, have been arrested.

"We reached an agreement that included a ceasefire and secured the evacuation," the Kurdish-led SDF wrote in a statement.

Buses transported the last remaining people from the forces in the Sheikh Maqsoud area of Aleppo on Sunday, local time, according to the state-controlled Syrian news agency SANA.

The announcement comes after days of clashes. The military has carried out several airstrikes on Kurdish-dominated areas of Aleppo.

Both sides have accused each other of starting Tuesday's fighting, which erupted amid a stalemate in political negotiations between Syria's new government and the SDF, which came to power after the fall of dictator Bashar al-Assad in late 2024.
