The midfield star underwent surgery on a complicated knee injury in May. The prognosis was for him to play around New Year's. But his return has been constantly postponed.
If the national team qualifies for the World Cup, the hope is that Kulusevski can be there.
"We need him. If everything goes well, he will be there," says national-team teammate Yasin Ayari, who is close to Kulusevski.
"I try to be there and support him. You see him suffer and you know how much this means to him, especially when it comes to the national team."
"He wants to do something big with this country. It shows what kind of person he is and how much he cares about the national team," Ayari says of Kulusevski's visit.
