Kristine Stavås Skistad was the slowest of all the skiers in the 20-kilometre classic pursuit start during the Tour de Ski. After the race, she received her third yellow card of the season.

Skistad was recognized for her performance on the ski tour on Thursday. The Norwegian deliberately skied slowly, and was last of all 69 skiers who started the pursuit.

After the race, Skistad received a yellow card from FIS because she was stuck in a technical zone.

It was a bit strict, maybe, but I don't know.

I guess I'll have to learn the rules a little better, so that's good, Skistad tells NRK about the warning.

With two yellow cards, a skier is disqualified and sprint specialist Skistad now risks being sent off from the Tour de Ski if she receives another warning during Saturday's classic sprint or Sunday's distance race.

Skistad was disqualified during the World Cup competitions in Davos earlier in the season when she received a second yellow card.

Skistad got the first one during the Norwegian season opener in Beitostølen. When she then deliberately tried to get another yellow card to avoid the threat of being punished, she instead received a red card for using illegal techniques.
