According to the municipality, the water reservoir is now empty and the pipeline network is drained – the reason is that more drinking water is used than the water plant in the area can produce.

In order to be able to refill the reservoir again, the pipeline network will be shut down during upcoming evenings and nights. Water tanks will be placed where residents can collect drinking water.

The municipality already introduced a watering ban in several areas before Midsummer, and residents have been urged to conserve water.

Already in May this year, the Swedish Geological Survey warned of water shortages in several places, including in Skåne, Kalmar and Gotland counties.
