Möregårdh, one of the favorites to win the China Smash, had a short match against China’s Xu Yingbin.
The Swede won 3–1 in sets (11–5, 11–7, 6–11, 13–11) and advanced to the round of 16.
In the round of 16, Möregårdh will face Chinese player Wen Ruibo, who is ranked 15th in the world.
For veteran Kristian Karlsson, however, the China Smash ended on Tuesday. The 35-year-old lost a dramatic five-set match to South Korea’s Oh Junsung.
The WTT tournament is a warm-up for the European Championships in Slovenia, which start on Sunday.
