Källberg impressed and had little trouble beating Panagiotis Gionis to reach the quarter-finals of the European Table Tennis Championships in Slovenia.
Källberg won the first set 11–6 and the second 11–9. After that, it was plain sailing, and he advanced with a 4–0 win.
Things went worse for Kristian Karlsson. The 35-year-old, who has been struggling with an elbow injury, lost 2–4 to French star Alexis Lebrun.
Later on Friday, Elias Ranefur and Truls Möregårdh will play their round-of-16 matches. They will face Felix Lebrun of France and Borgar Haug of Norway, respectively.
On Saturday, Kristian Karlsson and Anton Källberg will contest the European Championship men’s doubles final. They will face top seeds Alexis and Felix Lebrun, the French star brothers.
