The video conference, which will be held on Friday, is being convened by French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The summit's goal is to establish a "coordinated, independent, international plan to secure international shipping once the conflict is over," the British government said, according to AFP.
Starmer says over 40 countries have been invited.
Macron said this is a "purely defensive operation" that will be coordinated with countries in the Persian Gulf.
Maritime traffic through the strait has largely come to a standstill since the start of the Iran war, which has led to soaring oil prices, among other things.
