"The meeting in London tomorrow is even more important now after yesterday's events in Washington DC," says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (The Moderate Party) in a statement.

The Prime Minister is invited to Sunday's meeting in London with several other European leaders, for talks about Ukraine and security in Europe.

The UK's Prime Minister Keir Starmer is hosting and Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj will participate.

Tomorrow's meeting is now even more important after yesterday's events, according to Kristersson. "I understand that many feel anxious about what is happening in the world", he says further.

For Sweden's part, two things are crucial, according to the Prime Minister. It's about continuing to support Ukraine "so that they can eventually negotiate peace from a position of strength", and continuing to strengthen and build up the Swedish defense.

"We should prepare ourselves to invest significantly more in advanced capabilities together with other European NATO countries. It will require tough priorities", he says further.
