I take it with a pinch of salt, but it's not a tone I would have used, Ulf Kristersson tells TT during a visit to the company.
He believes that the American tone once again makes it clear that Europe cannot rely to the same extent on the United States to guarantee security here.
"We should not be unilaterally dependent on the US. We should not outsource our security to the US," says Kristersson, reminding that NATO and the EU have taken great strides in just a few years to strengthen security with their own means and resources.
The Prime Minister points out that when it comes to support for Ukraine, the EU and European countries outside the EU now account for a larger share than the US. And that must continue, according to Kristersson.
The upcoming EU summit, the week before Christmas, will be very important, according to the Prime Minister, who hopes for a decision to use frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.
If Europe is to be able to act more independently, we must have the financial muscle to support Ukraine. They are currently freezing Russian assets. It is an incredibly important decision.
