The Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) has spoken on the phone with Georgia's government-critical President Salomé Zourabichvili.
Sweden gives its full support to "the Georgian people's European aspirations", Kristersson announced via social media on Wednesday.
"Freedom of speech and assembly must be respected."
The USA also expresses support for the demonstrators.
"The USA strongly condemns the Georgian Dream party's brutal and unjustified violence against Georgian citizens, demonstrators, media representatives and opposition members", it states in a formal statement from Foreign Minister Antony Blinken.
