One person was killed and three were injured after the perpetrator entered the school on Friday. The suspect has been arrested by police.
Streams: Motive important
Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) told TT late on Friday evening that he directs his "deepest thoughts and care to the victims of the attack, to their families and relatives."
"We throughout Sweden are also thinking of all the other students and employees in the schools in Fagersta who were also affected by this today and had to experience something terrible. There are many who come home today to very worried parents, but also themselves of course with worry, great discomfort and fear," he says.
According to Strömmer, it is now important to investigate the motive behind the act.
We know from experience how important it is, of course for victims of crime and their relatives, but also for the surrounding society to be able to understand what has happened and also draw the right conclusions from it.
Andersson: Terrible information
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) writes in a comment on X :
"Now is the time to come together and support all those who need support. In time, the important questions of motive will also become clear. I would strongly urge everyone to now allow the police to work undisturbed to solve this terrible crime."
The Social Democrats' party leader also comments on the incident:
"Terrible information from Fagersta. My thoughts go out to those affected and everyone affected. When violence takes place at a school, I know it affects everyone in our country. All of Sweden stands with Fagersta in this difficult time," she writes in a statement to TT.
