On Wednesday, a high school student was shot at Trångsundsskolan in Huddinge and another student has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) calls the incident "completely terrible".
School shootings are not something we associate with Sweden. But we have seen terrible examples of very young people who are willing to commit very serious crimes these days, he says.
Ulf Kristersson further states that he does not have more information at present about the incident than what has been reported in the media.
But that we take it very seriously is beyond all doubt, he says.
Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer (M) also reacts to the incident.
"I view the incident with great seriousness. It is particularly serious when violent acts occur at a school", he writes in an SMS to TT.
He adds that the Ministry of Justice is in ongoing contact with the police authority, which is investigating the incident.
