Kristersson says that the investigation into the matter should be prepared first.

"I'm not going to get ahead of this," he says.

The issue of teenage deportations concerns young people whose parents have the right to be in Sweden, but who themselves do not meet the requirements for their own residence permit when they turn 18.

Kristersson says the 18-year-old age limit may need to be changed. He points to those who come to Sweden as 16-year-olds and, according to him, “do everything right” – but find themselves in a bind because of the three-year deadline before they can apply for citizenship.

You can imagine a different transition age for this. That's exactly what we're looking at.
