It is the first time in 22 years that a Chinese foreign minister has visited Sweden.
"Today I received and spoke with China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi. It is of course important for Sweden to have a functioning dialogue with the world's second-largest country and the world's second-largest economy," Kristersson says in a written comment to TT and continues:
"I raised Sweden's demand that Gui Minhai be released and reunited with his family in Sweden. We also discussed Russia's war against Ukraine and current trade issues between China and the EU."
Wang Yi and Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard also met to discuss current issues of bilateral interest during the visit. The EU-China trade relationship is also on the agenda.
