USA's President Donald Trump writes in capital letters on his platform Truth Social that it is "a good day for Germany and the United States led by a gentleman named Donald J Trump".
Even the UK's Prime Minister Keir Starmer and France's President Emmanuel Macron congratulate Friedrich Merz on his election victory.
"I look forward to working together with the new government to deepen our already strong relationship, strengthen our common security and deliver growth for both our countries", Starmer writes on X.
Far-right parties congratulate
Macron announces that he looks forward to working together with the German for "a strong and independent Europe".
"In this uncertain time, we stand united to meet the great challenges that our world and our continent face", Macron writes in a post on X.
Several from Europe's far-right congratulate the high-nationalist AFD, which appears to become the second-largest party with around 20 percent of the votes.
"What a great election success!" writes the French debater and provocateur Éric Zemmour.
The Austrian far-right populist extremist party FPÖ's (Freedom Party) controversial party leader Herbert Kickl also congratulates AFD and says that people no longer want to tolerate "illegal mass immigration", reports DPA.
