During Wednesday evening Swedish time, the American president Donald Trump is holding a new meeting about the Gaza war, a war that according to the White House may be over before the turn of the year.

Ulf Kristersson fears, however, that a solution is still relatively far away.

Right now it is quite difficult to be optimistic. But we would all like to see a ceasefire that is combined with an immediate release of the hostages. If that could happen, it would be an incredibly good start, says the Prime Minister.

On Wednesday, he and the Minister for Culture, Parisa Liljestrand (The Moderate Party), visited Gothenburg. Actually as part of this year's celebration of 250 years of Jewish life in Sweden.

But the visit to the Gothenburg synagogue was mostly about security issues and the situation of the Jews in Sweden.

When the situation looks like it does, we talked a lot about security and that many Jews feel very exposed. It is a very worrying development, says Kristersson.

That this leads to threats against Jews in Sweden, it is a completely incomprehensible connection that I think is really dangerous.
