Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) is opening an investigation and a review of prescription rules.

This follows a well-known entertainment personality leaving Sweden, suspected of several cases of buying sex, who stayed away to allow the statute of limitations to run out.

Kristersson calls the episode "deeply provocative" and says that he has spoken to Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) about it.

"We will conduct a review and it will also concern the statute of limitations. It should not be possible to actively use the law to stay out of trouble and avoid even being tried," says Kristersson.

The Prime Minister comments that both Aftonbladet and Expressen managed to find the man, but not the judiciary:

This raises some questions that the authorities will need to answer.
