Audere won the Eric Ericson Award in 2021 and has collaborated regularly with the Radio Choir since then. She also conducts choirs such as the BBC Singers, the Danish Radio Vocal Ensemble and Cappella Amsterdam.

"I am incredibly grateful to be a part of the Radio Choir, to make music together with these fantastic singers and to contribute to the choir's outstanding tradition of vocal excellence," says Krista Audere in a press release.

She will take over as chief conductor of the Radio Choir in 2027, succeeding Kaspars Putnins, who has held the role since 2020.

In 2028, Audere will also become artistic director and chief conductor of Cappella Amsterdam.

The Radio Choir has existed for 101 years, but has not had a female chief conductor before.
