"If there is a common political will, this can only be assessed positively," Peskov told the Russian state news agency Ria Novosti.
Macron said earlier this week that he thinks Europe should resume contact with Putin about ending the war in Ukraine.
"Either a robust and lasting peace is reached with the mandatory security guarantees, or in the coming weeks we will have to find ways for Europe to resume a dialogue with Russia, with complete transparency and in consultation with Ukraine," Macron told reporters in Brussels on Friday.
