Russia reacts to Finland's proposal to amend the country's nuclear energy law.
"By placing nuclear weapons on its territory, Finland is beginning to threaten us," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, according to AFP.
Finland's Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen said on Thursday that the proposal would make it possible to allow nuclear weapons in the future if it concerns Finland's defense.
This is being downplayed by President Alexander Stubb, who says Finland is not facing any acute security threat.
"I want to emphasize that the change in the law does not mean that nuclear weapons would be placed in Finland. Finland does not want nuclear weapons on its territory," he told Finnish media.
