"We, of course, appreciate this invitation. We value it. It will be considered... and after that a decision will be made," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
US President Donald Trump said last summer that an invitation to Putin was being prepared, and it was announced on Wednesday by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has also been invited to the meeting.
Russia is an official member of the G20, but Putin has not attended the group's meetings since 2019.
