For a long time, Vladimir Kramnik accused Daniel Naroditsky of cheating. The former Russian World Champion now risks being punished by the International Chess Federation after Naroditsky was found dead.

On Monday, it became known that the American grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky had passed away, 29 years old. The cause of death has not been made public.

The case has shaken the chess world and the attention is now focused on Vladimir Kramnik.

Over the past year, the former Russian world champion has publicly accused Naroditsky of cheating in online chess without presenting any evidence.

Naroditsky has rejected the allegations and at the same time said that he has felt very badly about them.

The International Chess Federation will now review all statements Kramnik has made against Naroditsky, announces Chairman Arkadij Dvorkovitj. He promises that the federation will take "appropriate measures" if it can be established that Kramnik has harassed or bullied Naroditsky.
