Costume clothes inspired by the animated fantasy musical "K-pop: Demon Hunters" are in high demand ahead of this year's Halloween. But they are difficult to get hold of.

It is the most watched movie ever on Netflix and the film's songs have been high on Billboard. To dress up as Rumi, Zoey or Mira in the band Huntrix is thus high on many children's wish list. When Google lists search words for this year's Halloween costumes, it's the demon hunters that dominate, writes Business Insider.

Yet, there is hardly any "merch" to get hold of. Fashion blogger Jean Wang therefore created her own clothes – in a post on social media, she showed how to create Rumi's long thick braid, and it quickly went viral. She is happy that the children's role models are not just American.

It is definitely refreshing and exciting that this year's "it" costume for people from all backgrounds is to be an Asian woman, she says to NBC News.

Netflix recently signed an agreement with Mattel and Hasbro Inc to meet the great demand, and in 2026 everything from dolls and accessories to games will be available. But commerce can also make the significance of the Korean folk traditions woven into the film become watered down, warns sociologist Nancy Wang Yuen in NBC News.
