Kouri Richins murdered her husband Eric in their Park City, Utah, home in March 2022 by putting fentanyl in his drink. The motive was reportedly that she was in debt and wanted to start her life over with another man.
Richins was convicted in March of the murder and was sentenced on Wednesday to life imprisonment.
"A person convicted of these crimes is simply too dangerous to ever be released," Richard Mrazi said when he announced the sentence, which means that Richins will never be able to leave prison.
After her husband's death, she wrote a well-received book intended to support her children and others grieving the loss of a loved one.
