The index in Seoul is up a full 6.0 percent at lunchtime. The rise is visible in the South Korean electronics giant Samsung, which for the first time has reached a valuation of over $1 trillion, just over SEK 9,000 billion.
In China, the indices are also climbing. Shenzhen is up 2.5 percent and Shanghai 1.0 percent.
The Hong Kong-based Hang Seng is up 0.7 percent.
The Tokyo Stock Exchange is closed.
