It's been six months since Kosovare Asllani tore her cruciate ligament during a training session with her club, London City. But during Sweden's warm-up at Bosön ahead of the playoff match against Lithuania, she appeared on the sidelines and did some light training exercises.
"You go around and make sure everyone is doing well. You give energy, but you get at least as much in return. It's nice to have a little break from my rehab," she tells SVT during the half-time break in Sweden's return match against Lithuania.
The 37-year-old was in the stands next to the Sweden bench during the match against Lithuania, along with another injured star, Johanna Rytting Kaneryd. Asllani emphasizes that her rehab is progressing and that her body feels good. But when asked if she hopes to be able to play in this summer's World Cup in Brazil, she does not give a clear answer.
Sweden will be there. For my part, I respect this process and I want to manage it perfectly. I don't just want to get back to who I was; I want to be faster, stronger and better at everything. That's the requirement I have during this period," she tells SVT.
