Michael Sumler, a member of the funk-disco-r'n'b band Kool & the Gang, has passed away, reports Billboard. Sumler, better known as "Chicago Mike," died in a car accident over the weekend.
Kool & The Gang was formed in 1964 and had major hits with songs like "Ladies Night", "Celebration" and "Cherish". The band has won two Grammy Awards and got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2015.
Michael Sumler was 71 years old.
