The woman who was murdered in the Stockholm suburb of Akalla was in her 60s and a relative of a person connected to a criminal network in the area.
The man has admitted murder during the trial – but claimed that he acted under threats and strong pressure. He is sentenced in Solna District Court to life imprisonment for murder and attempted murder.
"The murder was preceded by planning and there were several shots fired at the woman, two of which hit her in the head. The circumstances are so aggravating that any other sentence than life imprisonment cannot be considered," says Judge Alexander Nilsson, according to a press release.
Long prison sentences
The man is being sentenced together with a man in his 50s and a woman in her 30s who are said to have helped the shooter buy clothes before the murder, and acted as a driver.
The woman is sentenced to eleven years and ten months in prison for aiding and abetting murder and attempted murder. The man, in his 50s, is also sentenced to thirteen years and ten months in prison for aiding and abetting murder and attempted murder.
Tried to kill another one
On the day the woman was murdered, the man visited several addresses in the Stockholm area, intending to shoot whoever opened the door. In the morning, he called a woman in another suburb in northwest Stockholm. She was at home and saw the man standing outside with a folder in his hand – but chose not to open the door.
All three must pay damages to the relatives of the murdered woman, and to the woman who was the victim of the attempted murder.
