The home care worker, who is in her 20s, was attacked with a knife by the 49-year-old woman, who was very drunk at the time. Several witnesses called the police and helped the injured woman before an ambulance took her to the hospital, where medical staff assessed that the injuries could have been fatal if she had not received help in time.
The woman was arrested at the scene and also attacked police officers. The district court sentenced her to nine years in prison for attempted murder and attempted aggravated assault on a public servant, as well as to life imprisonment. Damages were awarded to both the healthcare staff and the police.
