Seven Hospitalized After Machete Attack in Brooklyn

Several people are reported to have been injured in a knife attack in Brooklyn, New York, reports NBC New York. New York's fire department confirms to News 12 Brooklyn that at least seven people have been taken to hospital.

The attack was carried out by a man with a machete and at least seven people are reported to have been injured, including the suspected perpetrator who was shot by the police and two police officers who are being treated for tinnitus, according to NBC's sources.

A woman and three children were attacked.

The police were alerted to the scene around 10:30 local time after reports of an ongoing assault.

According to NBC's sources, the police entered a residence where they were confronted by the suspect. The police are said to have shot at the man several times.

Two people are reported to be seriously injured and the suspect – who was taken to hospital – is one of them.

The children are said to be between the ages of eight and ten.
