Artistic and literary professionals' cooperation board (Klys) sees a need for greater understanding of AI. Today, many companies and authorities use AI for things like design, text, and music. Something that threatens the existence of many culture creators and can also violate copyright.

The most important thing to know is that generative AI models are trained on enormous amounts of culture creators' copyright-protected works, without permission and without compensation, says Ulrica Källén, who is the CEO of Klys.

”Do the right thing”

She emphasizes that copyright applies in full even in AI contexts and that it is important to find out what type of training data a supplier of an AI model has used, and develop routines so that it becomes easier for users.

According to Källén, many organizations want to "take responsibility and do the right thing". At the same time, the issue of training on generative AI is new, and Klys wants to increase knowledge but also highlight the value of using physical persons.

When assignments disappear and when compensation is lacking, it affects the entire creative sector.

Quality cannot be created by AI

Companies and authorities that want to avoid paying, why should they listen to your recommendations?

Our society needs a vibrant culture and media sector even in the future, and then everyone needs to take responsibility for copyright and artistic creation. It is important to highlight the unique. Both now and in the future, new things with high quality will not be able to be created by AI.

The biggest challenge, according to Ulrica Källén, is to get tech companies to sign broad license agreements.

We want to see collective agreement solutions or compensation models, she says.

The entire list of recommendations for AI use is presented during Almedalen and can be found on Klys' website.
