It is still unclear what caused a powerful explosion and fire in a semi-detached house in Kiruna on Tuesday evening.
The older man who owned the houses that burned down has not been able to be reached and the rescue service has not been able to search the property due to the strong heat.
According to the rescue service, the explosion was so powerful that it pushed out the walls of the residence. In connection with the blast, the semi-detached house started burning.
We still cannot comment with complete certainty whether it is a case of arson or a deliberate explosion, but a neighbor says that they heard an explosion and there are signs on the facade that something has exploded inside the residence, but it is unclear what it is, said Eric Rönnholm, commander at police region Nord, during the morning.
The fire was difficult to control and both the semi-detached house and the adjacent garage were completely destroyed.
